Brigadier : The Church of the Community

“Why did you do that, Joe?” Craig asked, sympathizing for Agnes. Joe replied, “Well, I did that because my church does that all the time.” “What kind of church is that?” Craig asked again.

“My church is the church who throws birthday party for prostitutes!”

“What church is that? If there really is a church like that, I’ll join them!” Craig shouted.

I do not know if there really is a church like that in our modern society. But I think we should be a church like that. A church congregation without different perceptions, without judgment, without prejudice, without sneering and jeering at each other, without cliques, without sinful words, deed and thought to anyone at all. A church for the black, white, yellow, brown, red and all. A church who love one another with all the love that God has given to us. A church that put aside all differences and all of us are God’s little, precious children.

*Story is fictional. All names and similarities are purely incidental. Article written with reference to one of Stan Warfield’s Sunday sermons, Senior Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Stillwater Oklahoma.
