Brigadier : Who Knows Best?

The ever-famous prayer of serenity goes like this:

Lord, grant me Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can and Windom to know the difference.

I read my church magazine with joy seeing so many articles paying tribute to the Almighty Father in heaven when someone is healed from sickness. I am happy for them. Another article was a prayer for all the needy and sick, praying for God to lay His Healing Hands upon them. I am comforted to know of brothers and sisters who pray for each other in the church. I am glad to read of prayers answered and how so many people have seen the Hands of God working through their lives.

But what if our prayers are never answered?

I have never read an article from any person writing about their sorrows and hurt when God just seems so far away. I have never heard anyone sharing about how fervently they pray for healing of sickness but their medical conditions got worse. Nobody would write and share their pain, anger, hurt and sorrow when they have prayed day and night but never receive God’s answer.

Many faithful Christians have gone through it. But they just won’t write and share because there’s nothing to shout about when God does not answer your prayers. Or you think He doesn’t care.

I have mixed feelings when Christians pray for healing, for good grades in exams, smooth journey in the transitions of work etc. In a way, they are just asking God to do something that they would see fit. To put it in another way, they are demanding God to make things happen their way.

But the question is: Who Knows Best?
